Orland Park, IL – A firefighter was injured in a home fire early Tuesday morning on the 147th Block of Holly Court in Orland Park.

The Orland Fire Protection District (OFPD) reported that the fire, which broke out at 3:35 AM, quickly engulfed both floors of the two-story residence, with flames also spreading to an adjacent house and causing a parked car’s wheels to explode.

Firefighters, employing an aggressive exterior attack strategy, managed to control the blaze within 20 minutes. However, during the operation, one firefighter sustained injuries and was transported to Silver Cross Hospital; he has been released since. Residents were evacuated safely, thanks to functioning smoke alarms in the homes.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Orland Park Police Department, OFPD, and the Illinois State Fire Marshal to determine the fire’s cause.
