Sumter, SC – A man has been arrested and charged with murder more than a year after Jamayah Daemonee Jones was killed on Camp Branch Road in Sumter County, authorities announced Wednesday.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff 's Office, Rahkeem Deaundre Epps was arrested following what Sheriff Dennis described as an extensive investigation into Jones' death.
Authorities said Jones was killed Sept. 6, 2025, in front of 1410 Camp Branch Road. The sheriff's office did not provide additional details in Wednesday's release about how Jones was killed or what evidence allegedly connected Epps to the case.
Epps has been charged with murder. The charge is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The sheriff said the investigation is continuing and that authorities expect additional arrests. No information identifying other potential suspects was included in the announcement.
Dennis characterized the killing as gang violence and said investigators would continue seeking justice for everyone allegedly involved. That characterization comes from the sheriff's office; the release did not provide additional details supporting the alleged gang connection.
