Kankakee’s beloved Moon Cookie Gallery located at 285 S. Schuyler Avenue is finally open again after being closed since the beginning of the stay-at-home order. Moon Cookie Gallery has been around since April 2016, and it is a cute, fun, whimsical gallery full of locally made goods.

“We have work from a variety of different artists and makers on display. You can find pottery, essential oils, baby gifts, tea, fine art, crocheted and knitted gifts, jewelry, stationery, handmade soaps, magnets, mandalas, and so much more! If you are looking for fun, whimsical gifts, you can find them here! Lots of unique items to look at. You’ll love it!” said owner Natalie Seaton.

Seaton and I discussed the challenged of running a business during the pandemic, and what the plans are for the future.

“I am excited to be reopened again NOW, and I’m also moving to a new location on July 1! We will be having a grand re-opening on July 18 with the theme “A Day At The Beach,” said Seaton. “My shop has been closed from the stay-home order until last week, and we were offering contactless porch pickup.”

Seaton says new sales during the pandemic have been hard due to a lack of new merchandise while being closed.

“I wanted to create a way for customers to continue shopping from home while we were closed. The most difficult part was not receiving much new merchandise while we were closed. But, now that we are open again, the artists are starting to bring in new things. I can’t wait for the new space because it’s double the size and will allow for workshops and more artists’ space as soon as we are allowed to be in closer proximity to each other!” Seaton said.

Moon Cookie’s new location will be officially announced later this week.
