Harvest View Senior Living in Herscher is now reporting two cases of COVID-19 in their facilities tonight.
The location was one of three new listings added to the Illinois Department of Public Health’s outbreak listings this evening. The other two are Kankakee Terrace, located in Bourbonnais and Presence Heritage Village located in Kankakee.
Harvest View Senior Living in Herscher is now reporting two cases at their facility with Kankakee Terrace now reporting three cases at their location. Kankakee Terrace becomes the second Bourbonnais location reporting cases, currently at two. The first was Bickford House in Bourbonnais several weeks ago.
Presence Heritage Village is the third latest addition to long-term care facilities now reporting, currently reporting two cases.
Harvest View opened in October 2008 and offers large apartment sized living areas for with a nurse is on site around the clock on the Herscher campus.
This weekend update looked different due to the nature of testing now being reported by Illinois Department of Public Health officials.
“We began reporting this way because testing was scarce and we needed to get an idea of the size and scope of the outbreak. Since laboratory testing is more readily available, we have switched to laboratory confirmed cases only.” IDPH officials told us in a statement via email this afternoon.
“Today, we began reporting only those facilities that are currently experiencing an outbreak – meaning, they have had a case within the last 28 days. Our priority is to focus on those facilities currently experiencing an outbreak, and to also to provide to the public the current status of COVID-19 in Illinois.” IDPH said Friday night.
To date, there have been 11 facilities across Kankakee County that have reported cases of COVID-19.
Other facilities reporting to date in Kankakee include Shapiro Developmental Center, Riverside Miller Rehabilitation, Manteno Veterans Home, Illinois Veterans Prince Home, Riverside Senior Life, Presence Our Lady of Victory – Ascension Living, Bickford Senior Center, Harvest View Senior Living, Heritage Village, Kankakee Terrace, and Aperion Care Bradley.
Long-term care facilities now account for 48% of all cases in Kankakee County reported to date.
