Bourbonnais Fire Protection District is asking residents to stop open burning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The simple fact that anyone who decides to conduct opening burning is potentially pulling these valuable medical personnel away from the treatment and transporting of those that are in need of medical attention. We encourage everyone to do the right thing and refrain from open burning while your fire service professionals are engaged in providing the best medical care that they can to the citizens of Kankakee County.” said the Fire District in a Statement yesterday.

The news comes just hours after the Village of Bourbonnais announced yard waste pickup WILL CONTINUE to proceed during the COVID-19 situation.  Republic Services in Kankakee announced it will cease both yard waste and bulk pickup services on Friday.
