Boy Brings Gun to Illinois Park, reportedly fired shots in dispute

CHAMPAIGN, IL – A young boy allegedly brought a gun to settle a dispute Monday at Centennial Park.

According to Champaign Police reports, the incident stemmed from an argument with another child with the 11-year-old suspect.  Witness report it resorted to the child firing shots in retaliation. 

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. 

The swift response from law enforcement led to the apprehension of the juvenile, who was allegedly found with the firearm on his person. The incident has raised widespread concerns and shed light on the urgent need to address youth violence.

Due to the nature of the juvenile’s age; no further details surrounding the case have been released.
