Citadel of Kankakee has been chosen by the Illinois Department of Public Health for COVID-19 testing in nursing homes that do currently NOT have a case of the pandemic.

Testing at Citadel of Kankakee will begin Saturday April 25th and be concluded by the end of the day.  All patients and staff at the facility will be tested for the virus, with results expected sometime next week.  Results will be available to residents directly by phone upon their arrival.

Citadel of Kankakee has already reached out to families of residents to inform them of the testing procedures. Earlier this week, Governor Pritzker said he has no patience for any facilities not adhering to proper protocols.

Kankakee County currently has a number of facilities testing positive for COVID-19, including Bickford of Bourbonnais, Riverside Miller Center, and Riverside Senior Center.

The state’s latest figures show nearly 2,000 cases of the virus tied to long-term facilities with nearly 300 deaths.
