COVID-19 cases exploded in Iroquois County on Wednesday as the County announced 27 new positives in a 24-hour span.  Only 460 tests have been conducted in the County, with 16% of those resulting in positive results.

There are now 27 cases reporting in the 60927 area code which covers Clifton.  Earlier this week Ascension Presence Merkle Kipprath in Clifton began reporting cases at their facility.  No word if the 22 new cases age 60 and older are associated with that facility.

Prior to today, IDPH reported only 2 cases at that facility.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there were 78 laboratory confirmed cases with 21 labeled recovered by Health officials.  The majority of today’s announced cases were in older adults.  At least 22 of the 27 announced cases were ages 60 and over.

There has been one death in the County to date.

Following the announcement, the Iroquois County Health Department announced they will be participating in a press conference tomorrow with Iroquois County officials at 3 pm that will air live on their YouTube.
