BOURBONNAIS – The Kankakee Area Career Center (KACC) has found a way to engage incoming Sophomores virtually seeking success and exploring potential career opportunities.
The Center released an interactive PowerPoint Monday afternoon that directs students through the registration process, allowing them to gather course information, meeting their instructor, and learn more about students in the programs. The presentation will also allow incoming students to register for classes, meet Director Kelly, and take a Career Coach survey to help students discover careers they may find of interest.
An invitation to an online Open House on Zoom will also be offered taking place November 23rd from 1:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. You can access Zoom links here.
Early exit survey results show those who completed the program find it useful with 85.3% rating as good to excellent; 73.5% rating the Career Coach tool being helpful and, 94.1% stating they are considering a KACC program for next school year.
KACC Executive Director, Matt Kelley stated he is “delighted so many members of our KACC team wanted to create a way to reach out to area sophomores and highlight the options and opportunities of a high school education that includes the Career Center.”
“Nothing beats having students in our building,” said Principal Tim Guerin, “but all of us at KACC are dedicated to our 2020 motto ‘Bflexible’ to do whatever we can on behalf of our students while making their health and safety a priority.”
Guerin commends Dean of Students Lucas Papineau and Academic Specialist Jonathan Cruz for spearheading this project and seeing it through to fruition.
