The 2020 Kankakee County Fair has been canceled due to the pandemic.

The move follows Iroquois County’s cancelation earlier this week.  Gatherings over 50 aren’t called for until Phase 4 is reached at the end of June.

According to a study commissioned by the IAFE, fairs in the U.S. are estimated to generate $4.67 billion in economic activity annually.  Announcements like todays are expected to have a ripple effect that will effect on jobs and local businesses and organizations across the area.

As of writing, the Will County Fair and Illinois State Fair have yet to be canceled for 2020.

“As the Governor has said, large events like the Illinois and Du Quoin State Fairs are unfortunately not likely to happen in the near future.” Illinois State Fair organizers said in a statement in early May.
