PLAINFIELD – Village officials announced Friday the discovery of E. Coli bacteria in the Village’s water supply. A boil order has been put in place for the village until Monday.

E. Coli is a strand of bacteria that can cause diarrhea, urinary tract infections, respiratory illnesses, pneumonia, and other illnesses.

During a boil order, it’s recommended letting water come to a boil and remain for up to five minutes before using it to drink, brush teeth or wash dishes along with other uses to kill the organisms found in the water.

Plainfield District 2020 announced Friday classes may be cancelled in-person due to the boil order.
