A pre-strike rally is planned for this morning outside of AMITA’s headquarters in Lisle.

The rally comes after the Illinois Nurses Association announced further negotiations to meet with AMITA Tuesday regarding the pending nurses Strike in Joliet had been called off. Nurses are set to strike on Saturday.

AMITA has been using its advanced window before the strike to recruit replacement nurses to keep the hospital operational. A resolution could still be reached before Saturday, a spokesperson said.

The next scheduled negotiations session is next Wednesday. It’s been nearly three decades since nurses went on strike at the Joliet hospital. Nurses in Joliet have been working without a contract since it expired on May 9th.
