Paxton Fireworks canceled due to fire

Paxton has canceled their fireworks for 2020, but not because of COVID-19.

Officials announced last week a recent shed fire at a city storage unit destroyed racks and tubes used to launch fireworks into the air.  Other items reportedly destroyed in the fire included  a stump grinder, a 1995 truck, a snow fence and two bucket trucks.

The State Fire Marshal has ruled out arson and couldn’t determine the cause of the fire.  Video footage from the night shows no one was near the building.

The event is usually held at Pells Park every year.
