Gunshots Heard as Wayne County Deputies Discover Murder-Suicide

Wayne County, IN – A welfare check in Wayne County led to the discovery of a suspected murder-suicide on Monday. Deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in the 1st block of Farlow Road, finding two individuals with gunshot wounds.

According to Sheriff Randy Retter, Erika Painter, 30, of Centerville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Dustin Creech, 38, of Richmond, was transported to Reid Hospital and later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Upon arrival, deputies heard two shots, indicating the incident was unfolding as they approached. 

Despite immediate life-saving efforts, both individuals succumbed to their injuries. Initial findings suggest a murder-suicide, though the investigation continues.
