Armed Robbery at Addison Gas Station Leads to High-Speed Chase on Route 83

WHEATON, IL – DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Addison Police Chief Roy Selvik have announced that pre-trial release was denied for Willie Carter, 24, and Anton Stephens, 24, of Chicago. The pair are accused of an armed robbery at an Addison gas station and a subsequent high-speed chase exceeding 100 mph. 

According to the press release, the incident occurred on Tuesday at the Speedway gas station, located at 701 E. Lake Street in Addison. Carter and Stephens allegedly robbed the station at gunpoint, then fled, leading police on a dangerous pursuit involving several jurisdictions and major roads, including Route 83 and I-290. State’s Attorney Berlin highlighted the coordinated efforts of various police departments in the chase and capture of the suspects. 

The defendants’ next court appearance is set for February 26, 2024.
