LOWELL, Ind. – A Chicago man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on I-80 this morning.
According to the Indiana State Police-Lowell Post, the accident occurred at approximately 3:53 a.m. on the westbound ramp to the Indiana Toll Road.
The driver, identified as Parrish Turner, 27, was driving a black 2014 BMW 528 when the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons, struck the guardrail, and rolled onto its side. Turner was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated. He was then transported to Northlake Methodist Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Authorities believe that alcoholic beverage consumption may have been a factor in the crash. The ramp was closed for approximately two hours for scene cleanup, with Lake Station Fire/EMS, INDOT, Toll Road Maintenance, and WAFFCO Towing all assisting.
