Hinsdale, a suburb of Chicago, was found to be the most expensive city in Illinois, with an average monthly household bill of $3,563. Winnetka came in second place, with an average bill of $3,535, followed by Lake Forest, Wilmette, and Barrington.
The report also ranked the most expensive counties in Illinois, with Kendall County taking the top spot with an average monthly bill of $2,958. Lake and DuPage counties followed, with average bills of $2,792 and $2,566, respectively.
Overall, the study found that the average monthly bill for households in Illinois was $2,121, making it the 16th most expensive state in the US for household expenses.
While some cities and suburbs in the Chicago area have recently earned top spots on other rankings for factors like quality of life or happiness, the doxo.com report focuses specifically on household bills.
