Aurora, IL – An 8-year-old child is safe after being abducted during a home invasion on Aurora’s east side, leading to the arrest of two men in Indiana.
On Monday evening, Aurora Police and Firefighters responded to a home invasion report on the 2000 block of Cheshire Drive. According to the Aurora Police Department, two males forced their way into the home, injuring the homeowners, and abducted the child. The offenders were identified as the child’s father, uncle, and grandmother.
according to police reports officers allegedly found the grandmother, Lisa C. Bearden, 58, in North Aurora with firearms in her vehicle. She faces charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The males and the child were located by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana. Joshua T. Bearden, 30, and Christopher A. Bearden, 35, face home invasion charges and are awaiting extradition to Illinois.
Chief Keith Cross emphasized the importance of home safety, especially for children, and praised the efforts of multiple police agencies in ensuring the child’s safe return. “Regardless of your relationship with a child, it does not give you the right to force your way into somebody else’s home and cause harm,” Cross stated.
