Fire causes estimated $100,000 in damage to Manteno home Friday

MANTENO, Ill. – A fire heavily damaged a home in Manteno on Friday, leaving one firefighter with minor injuries. The fire broke out around 5 p.m. in the 500 block of Raven Drive, causing heavy smoke and fire damage to the second-story bedroom where the blaze began.

According to authorities, nine residents of the home were able to escape the fire. However, there is no word yet on what caused the fire, and an investigation is currently underway.

Damage from the blaze is estimated to be around $100,000.

Firefighters from multiple departments responded to the scene to help extinguish the flames.
