Four Suspects in Custody for Murder of Chicago Officer, Areanah Preston: Stolen Weapon Recovered

Chicago, IL – SWAT teams have taken into custody all four suspects connected to the murder of off-duty Chicago Police Officer Areanah Preston. 

According to reports, police arrived at a home in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the 7600 block of South Bishop Street on Sunday evening, where the hours-long standoff ended with at least one person surrendering. The suspects are yet to be charged as the investigation is still ongoing. 

Preston, 24, was found with multiple gunshot wounds early on Saturday morning in Avalon Park and succumbed to her injuries at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Preston’s weapon was also recovered by the police. 

Loyola University confirmed that Preston was due to graduate with a Masters of Jurisprudence from the School of Law on May 13.
