Streator, IL – Four juveniles were arrested early this morning for allegedly throwing bricks from the roof of a hardware store, causing significant damage to parked cars on East Main Street.
According to the Streator Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:07 a.m. at a hardware store in the 400 block of East Main Street. The youths, ranging in age from 10 to 17, were reportedly found on the roof hurling bricks onto the street below, damaging several parked vehicles. One SUV across the street from the store sustained visible hood and roof damage.
The vehicle owner witnessed the incident and called the police. The four juveniles were removed from the roof and transported to the Streator Police Department. Their parents were notified, and each juvenile received referrals for charges related to the vandalism.
Streator Police stressed the importance of parental supervision to prevent such dangerous activities in the future. While no injuries were reported in this incident, police noted that similar cases around the country have resulted in harm to individuals.
