Bradley Man Arrested on DUI, other charges after hitting pole in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, IL – A 21-year-old resident of Bradley was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, operating an uninsured vehicle, and illegal transportation of alcohol.

According to University of Illinois Police reports, Luis A. Mendez’s vehicle struck a pole in the 200 block of East John Street, Champaign and drove away, resulting in officers called to the scene.  Upon arrival, an officer allegedly discovered several open containers of alcohol inside. 

Mendez was held at Champaign County Jail and released on $1,000 bond.
