URBANA, Ill. – A Burger King broiled up trouble for firefighters Wednesday when a fire broke out leading to a response.

Urbana Fire Department was called to the 1700 block of S. Philo Road after a fire alarm went off and light smoke was observed coming from the front entryway as staff evacuated the building.

Officials quickly determined that there was a fire in the wall near the building’s entry, which led to the situation being upgraded to a working fire. Crews were able to extinguish the flames in approximately 18 minutes.

Unfortunately, one firefighter sustained minor injuries during the incident. While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, damage estimates suggest it caused around $40,000 worth of damage to the building.

The location could reopen as early as Friday depending on a company policy review.
