Gas Line Accident Near Indiana Car Dealership Prompts Road Closure

Chesterton, IN – A gas line breach has led to the closure of East Porter Ave between Ind 49 and Dickinson Road, according to the Chesterton Fire Department. 

According to Chesterton officials, the incident began around 9:18 a.m. Tuesday morning when a NITCO crew working near the Castle Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chesterton dealership at 701 E. Porter Ave accidentally struck a natural-gas line. 

As a result, East Porter Ave. has been temporarily closed, and a NIPSCO crew is currently working on repairing the damaged line. 

Further details regarding the incident are yet to be released as of 10:01 a.m.
