NORMAL, IL – Illinois State graduate guard Paige Robinson has been drafted to the WNBA, becoming the first Illinois State women’s basketball player in program history to achieve this feat.
The Dallas Wings selected Robinson in the third round, 31st overall, in the 2023 WNBA Draft. Robinson, who hails from Bethany, Illinois, also became the sixth overall Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball player to be selected in the WNBA draft, and the first since 2015.
Robinson’s performance in the 2022-23 MVC season saw her named the Jackie Stiles Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-MVC, and All-Newcomer Team selection. The 5’11” guard averaged 18.3 points, 2.9 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 0.8 steals per contest in her only season with the Redbirds. Robinson recorded 27 outings with double-figure scores, including 17 with over 20 points, and led Illinois State in this category 20 times. Robinson’s career highlight with Illinois State was her 37-point performance against Wisconsin on November 20, 2022.
Prior to her single season with Illinois State, Robinson spent four years at Division II’s Drury University, where she was named the 2021 NCAA Division II Player of the Year. Over her college career, Robinson amassed 2,600 points, 332 three-point field goals, 441 assists, 217 steals, and 604 rebounds. Robinson is now set to make history with the Dallas Wings as the team begins its 2023 WNBA season.
