Oak Park Plumbing Crime Spree: Equipment Worth Over $24K Stolen in Two Days

OAK PARK, IL – Oak Park is facing an unusual wave of crimes as plumbing equipment worth thousands has been swiped in two consecutive heists. 

According to Oak Park police reports, on October 2, three unidentified men were seen on the 1100 block of Lexington between 4:26 PM – 4:28 PM, making away with a Bellwood resident’s plumbers camera. They fled the scene in a black SUV and a blue mini-van, inflicting a loss of $9,150.

Barely a day later, another plumbing-related theft occurred. Around 11:26 AM on October 3, on the 1100 block of S. Ridgeland, two men were caught on camera pilfering an unattended Rigid Plumbing Locator and a red/gray colored Sea Snake from Center Guard Plumbing. Their escape vehicle? A black Ford Edge, driven by a third accomplice. This theft amounted to a loss of $15,000.

Residents and businesses are urged to secure their plumbing equipment, and the Oak Park Police Department is calling for witnesses to come forward.
