Police Search for Shooter after Vehicle Window Shattered in Aurora

AURORA, Ill. – An active investigation is underway on the near east side of Aurora after shots were fired on April 13th, 2023. Despite a police search, the shooter managed to evade capture.

According to witnesses, a male was seen running with a firearm in his hand and entering a multi-family residence in the area. Officers surrounded the residence and ensured the safety of its occupants before searching inside. However, the suspect was not found.

The police responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting shots fired in the 700-800 block of Fifth Street at 4:53 PM. The shooting resulted in damage to a vehicle parked in the area, and a person inside the car suffered minor injuries from shattered glass.

Aurora Police’s Investigations Division is urging anyone with information to come forward. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Aurora Area Crime Stoppers, which offers cash rewards of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of felony crime offenders and the capture of felony fugitives.
