Grant Park Braces for Route 17 Closure: Union Pacific Railroad Implements Detour Plans

Grant Park, IL – Residents and commuters in Grant Park are advised to prepare for a temporary closure of Route 17 as the Union Pacific Railroad initiates necessary maintenance work. 

The closure is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, June 27th, starting at 9:00 am, and will last until Wednesday, June 28th, concluding at 3:00 pm.

Grant Park Police received the closure announcement from the Union Pacific Railroad and shared the detour plans provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). 

The closure will specifically affect the crossing located on IL 1/IL 17, where the tracks run parallel to Main Street across Route 17/E Taylor Street. The temporary closure is necessary to facilitate crucial maintenance work required by the Union Pacific Railroad.

Local authorities encourage residents and commuters to plan their routes accordingly during the closure period.
