Kankakee, IL – The administrative leaders of the City of Kankakee recently partnered with the Department of Continuing Education at Kankakee Community College for a customized strategic planning session. The session lasted the entire day and included department heads from the City and Environmental Services Utility (ESU).

“Professional development is of the utmost importance to this administration.  I want to make sure the City of Kankakee is represented by the best talent.  As a team, it is important that we come together to focus on our vision so that we are working collaboratively to achieve our goals,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

The team developed mission and vision statements, in addition to, value statements.  Those statements are being introduced on the city’s website, correspondence and in areas of service.  “Mission, vision and values are the foundation of any organization.  They are needed to facilitate evaluation and improvement, guide decision making, and create strategic goals to move the city forward,” stated James Ellexson, Human Resources Director for the City.

“As the team works to implement the Kankakee Forward agenda, we will embrace our mission and vision using them as a guiding force to foster transformational change.  As we focus on modernizing our processes, creating an environment for economic growth, enhancing public safety, and addressing inequity, our values will be at the forefront of our policy decisions and practices,” stated Mayor Wells-Armstrong.
