Score Big Savings at the Friends of the Library Book Sale in Limestone Township!

Limestone Township, Illinois – Book lovers in Limestone Township are in for a treat as the Friends of the Library Semi-Annual Book Sale is underway at Limestone Township Library District. Starting on March 20, the library has set up tables and carts of books for sale at the hall, offering readers a chance to find new favorites and old friends.

Hardcover books are priced at $1.00 each, paperbacks at $.50 each, while children’s books and DVDs are available for $.50 and $1.00, respectively. Payment for these items can be made at the Front Desk, and the Book Sale will run until Saturday, April 1, 2023.

For more information, interested individuals can call the library at 815-939-1696. Visitors are also encouraged to check out the library’s program calendar during their visit.

Children can enjoy a fun and educational experience at the library’s Storytime on Wednesday, March 22 at 10:15 A.M. Hosted by Ms. Holly, the event will feature an exciting picture book or two and a craft session to help preschoolers discover the joy of reading. Puppet Story Theater, a fun story with puppets performed by Mr. William and Ms. Holly, will be held on Saturday, March 25, at 11:00 A.M.

On Saturday, March 25, book lovers can celebrate Tolkien Reading Day at the library’s Second Breakfast at 12:30 P.M. The event will include toaster pastries, donuts, and various drinks. The Writer’s Group will also hold a meeting on Tuesday, March 28 at 6:30 P.M., where members will edit and critique each other’s work, becoming better writers in the process.

Family Movie Night will take place on Thursday, March 30, starting at 6:00 P.M., featuring The Lorax in the Meeting Room. Popcorn and drinks will be provided, and visitors can pick up the National Crayon Day Take-and-Make Project on Friday, March 31. Supplies are limited, so visitors are encouraged to pick up theirs before they’re gone.

Adult Craft Night will take place on Monday, April 3, at 6:30 P.M., offering a chance to create Hummingbird Feeders from cleaned wine bottles. All supplies will be provided, and there is no fee for this program.

Finally, Danny Trejo will virtually talk tacos, Hollywood, and redemption on Tuesday, April 4, at 7:00 P.M. Trejo’s story of overcoming years of imprisonment and helping troubled youth battle drug addiction has inspired many, and he will share his journey with attendees. This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present, a statewide collaboration among public libraries offering premier events.

Visitors to the library’s programs do not need a library card, but those who want to check out books can get a card by bringing their Driver’s license or State ID and a piece of mail to verify their address. Persons under the age of 18 need a parent’s signature. Visitors living outside of Limestone Township but not in another library district (such as Fossil Ridge or Kankakee) may need to pay a non-resident fee.
