Joliet Fire Department Responds to Early Morning House Fire Near University of St. Francis

JOLIET, Ill. – The Joliet Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 408 Whitney Avenue, near the University of St. Francis, on Saturday. 

The call came in at 5:12 am and the first units arrived on the scene within two minutes. Heavy smoke and fire were seen coming from the roof of the two-story single-family dwelling. All residents were able to evacuate the building safely.

Crews from stations 1, 4, 5, 6, and 8 responded to the scene. Multiple hose lines were used inside to extinguish the fire on the second floor. Other crews performed water supply, search, ventilation, salvage and overhaul, safety and support functions. The fire was declared under control at 5:58 am.

The Joliet Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the fire. There were no reported injuries.
