Oak Park Heist: Sledgehammer Smash-and-Grab at Smoke Shop Nets $3,800

Oak Park, IL – A burglary at local smoke shop resulted in a loss of nearly $4,000 last weekend.

According to the Oak Park Police Department, a burglary occurred between January 12 and 13 at the 11:11 Smoke Shop located on the 7100 block of North Avenue. The incident, which took place between 11:00 PM and 5:28 AM, involved unidentified persons gaining entry into the business. The method of entry is suspected to be a sledgehammer used to shatter the front door window. 

Once inside, the offenders allegedly stole two cases of electronic smoking devices and an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, totaling an estimated loss of $3,800. 

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are seeking information from the public.
