Charleston, WV – Heavy rain continues across West Virginia, raising concerns about flooding as rivers rise. Flood Watches remain in effect, especially in mountain regions and northeast West Virginia.
According to the National Weather Service, rain will persist through Friday before tapering off overnight. River Flood Warnings have been issued for parts of the Yager Valley River due to runoff from rainfall and melting snow.
The combination of precipitation and snowmelt could lead to dangerous conditions, particularly in low-lying areas. Up to 1.5 inches of rain is expected in southeast Ohio, northeast Kentucky, and western West Virginia.
Drier weather is forecast for the weekend, but flood concerns will persist through Saturday night. Rivers will continue rising as water drains from affected areas. Residents should stay alert for updates and prepare for potential flooding.
Emergency officials urge people to avoid flooded roads and monitor changing conditions. If flooding occurs, move to higher ground immediately.
