KANKAKEE – COVID-19 testing continues to become available locally. Recently, the Duane Dean Behavioral Health Center located at 700 East Court Street in Kankakee, launched their first weekend for drive thru COVID-19 testing.

Testing will continue every Saturday and Sunday at 367 S. Schuyler Avenue in Kankakee from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. until further notice at no cost.

Clinical Director, Victor Nevarez, stated Duane Dean has been a partner with NTL Laboratory for administering drug tests and services for a little over two years. When he learned NTL Laboratory began conducting COVID-19 testing throughout the Chicagoland area, Nevarez initiated a conversation with the President and CEO to see if there could be an additional testing site in Kankakee.

“During our first weekend of testing, there were about 76 tests given. It’s great when you work with exceptional partners who are invested in the community and who have the best interest for the community. Everyone can get a test whether they have insurance or not. We are here to help,” said Clinical Director, Victor Nevarez.

“The Duane Dean Behavioral Health Center continues to be a great asset and partner in our community. I appreciate the leadership and efforts to bring these additional resources for COVID-19 testing, especially on the weekends. The site will also benefit those who may be working during the week,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

Testing results will be provided within 48 hours by email or phone. There is also the option of stopping by the Duane Dean Center if the participant does not have an email address or phone number where they can be reached. It is recommended to bring a form of identification.
