Indiana Sheriff’s Office Investigating Rumored Student Sexual Assault List Linked to Snapchat Hoax

RENSSELAER, IN – Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) and Kankakee Valley School Corporation (KCSC) announced Thursday both are investigating rumors of a “list” containing names of KV students who were going to be sexually assaulted. 

Sheriff’s police believe the incident originated as a Snapchat hoax in 2021, which has since spread across social media. 

No comprehensive list or credible threat has been found, authorities have been speaking with anyone who comes forward with information.

Officials are asking Parents and guardians are urged to closely monitor their child’s social media activity to ensure that they are not exposed to such hoaxes or misinformation. 

KVSC and JCSO are committed to prioritizing student safety and investigating all reports of threats to ensure that the school remains a safe and secure environment.
