KANKAKEE, IL – Lawrence Taylor III, 37, was arrested just before 5am this morning, following a search warrant at his Pembroke Township home Tuesday.

The Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group (KAMEG) and Kankakee County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a search of Taylor’s home and allegedly discovered cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and at least three handguns, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia.

Taylor was arrested and charged with armed violence, firearm possession without a valid FOID, and controlled substance trafficking. He is currently being held at Jerome Combs Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.

The arrest of Taylor is part of the ongoing efforts by KAMEG and Kankakee County Sheriff’s Deputies to combat drug trafficking and gun violence in the area. KAMEG is a multi-jurisdictional task force that investigates and targets drug trafficking organizations and gangs.

The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information regarding drug trafficking or other criminal activity to contact the KAMEG hotline at (815) 933-1710.
