Mokena, Illinois – A retail theft incident at Brookhaven Market Place in Mokena led to a dramatic police chase and subsequent crash in Frankfort, resulting in the arrest of three Chicago residents on Wednesday morning.
According to police reports the incident began at 8:07 a.m., when Mokena Police were alerted to a theft in progress at the marketplace located on S. Lagrange Road. Officers received detailed descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle, which was soon spotted by a Frankfort officer traveling eastbound on St. Francis Road.
The suspects’ vehicle crashed into a tree at the intersection of St. Francis Road and Grand Traverse, near a subdivision entrance. One suspect was immediately detained by Frankfort Police, while the remaining two fled on foot. The subsequent search operation, involving Mokena Police, Frankfort Police, and Will County Sheriff’s officers, successfully located and apprehended all suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Joseph M. Ammons Jr., Geno Taylor, and Shawn J. Willis Jr. They are facing multiple charges, with Ammons Jr. charged with felony retail theft, possession of a controlled substance, and aggravated fleeing and eluding. Taylor and Willis Jr. are each charged with felony retail theft and possession of controlled substances.
