Water Bills Could Soon Rise Nearly $1 Per Day for Aqua Illinois Customers in 14 Counties

Cook County, IL – Customers of Aqua Illinois in Cook County and 13 other Illinois counties could see their water bills increase by an average of $1 per day starting in December. 

According to a public notice issued by the utility company, the proposed rate hike is under review by the Illinois Commerce Commission and would affect both water and wastewater services if approved. This change would mean an estimated monthly increase of $29.91 for the average household. 

The last rate increase took place in 2017, and the company cites infrastructure improvements as the primary reason for the proposed changes. Residents will have an opportunity to voice their concerns in the upcoming ICC hearings.  You can read the full letter below.
