Elmhurst, IL – Man Allegedly Steals Sports Car from Illinois Dealership, Immediately Wrecks It

Elmhurst, IL – A dramatic turn of events unfolded in Elmhurst when a man allegedly stole a sports car from a local dealership and crashed it moments later. 

The Elmhurst Police Department reported that on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a male suspect burglarized a used car dealership on the 700 block of W. Lake Street, taking an Infiniti coupe. The alleged theft quickly escalated when the stolen vehicle was involved in a collision with a pickup truck at Junior Terrace and Mary Court. The suspect fled the scene on foot but was apprehended by responding officers on West Avenue shortly afterward. No injuries were reported from the incident.

This case remains under active investigation by the Elmhurst Police Department. They are considering charges and have requested anyone with information to contact them at (630) 530-3050.
