Kankakee Man Detained for Mob Action in Manteno, Drawing 9mm Handgun in Fight

Manteno, IL – An early morning dispute escalated swiftly, leading to the arrest of a Kankakee man on Tuesday. Authorities responded to reports of a brawl that took a dangerous turn when a handgun was allegedly brandished.

According to Manteno Police Department, the confrontation occurred around 8:30 AM. Neighbors, alarmed by the commotion, reportedly witnessed a man withdrawing a handgun from his waistband and pointing it at another individual. The prompt action of Manteno PD resulted in the detainment of Reggie J Croom at the scene. A subsequent search of Croom’s vehicle led to the discovery of a 9 mm handgun, adding to the charges.

Croom faces serious allegations, including mob action and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. These charges reflect the potential threat to public safety that the incident posed. Currently held at Jerome Combs Detention Center, Croom awaits further legal proceedings, with his bond or court appearance still pending.
