Joliet Woman Found Shot Dead in Bathroom After Home Invasion

Joliet, Illinois – A tragic incident unfolded in Joliet on December 13, 2023, when a 40-year-old woman was fatally shot during a violent home invasion. 

The Joliet Police Department reported the incident occurred at approximately 10:39 PM in the 1100 block of Westshire Drive. Responding to a distress call, officers arrived to find a severely damaged front window and a male suspect inside the residence.

The situation escalated quickly as officers located the woman unresponsive in the bathroom, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate response, the victim, identified by Will County Coroner’s Office Friday morning as Alicia L. Cole, was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, a 47-year-old male, believed to have forcefully entered the residence, is currently under police custody and receiving medical treatment.

This case, deemed a domestic incident, is under active investigation, with further details to be released as they become available.
