KANKAKEE, Ill. – A man is being held on $1 million dollars bond after being discovered among a bloody woman and a baby in an abandoned home last Thursday.
According to reports it was just after midnight April 6th when Kankakee Police received a call to conduct a welfare check on a woman at the home in the 300 block of South Chicago. Upon arriving, they found the woman lying on a mattress, with her infant daughter in a car seat next to her. The woman was covered in blood, which had also stained baby.
A broken baseball bat was also discovered near a man sleeping on a couch, with blood on his clothing.
Andre Banks Jr., 25, of Kankakee was arrested on charges of aggravated domestic battery, cause child to be endangered non-family related, and aggravated battery/strangle.
He’s being housed at the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee. The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated, and her condition is unknown at this time.
The baby was not injured.
