Alabama Football Tragedy: High School Player Killed in Early Morning Car Crash

Shelby County, AL -A promising student-athlete at Calera High School, lost his life in a tragic car crash during the early hours of Sunday. 

According to authorities the accident took place around 12:30 a.m. on Highway 70 near the Waterford subdivision, has left the community reeling with grief. 

The victim, identified by authorities as 15-year old Brayden Ray, wearing jersey No. 29 as a sophomore wide receiver on the Calera High School football team, met a devastating end when his vehicle veered off the road and collided with trees. He was alone in the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Shelby County Coroner’s Office confirmed the tragic news. The investigation into the crash’s cause is now in the hands of the Shelby County Traffic Homicide Task Force, as they work diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
