BURBANK, IL – A Shrimp House employee and a man were found dead Thursday afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at Franks Chicago Shrimp House on 6539 W. 79th Street Thursday just after 6:30 p.m.
According to Burbank Police, officers arrived at the scene to find a female employee, 55-year-old Melissa Hoddenbach, lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts to save her, Hoddenbach was pronounced dead on the scene. Officers also found a male subject, later identified as 21-year-old Devon Williams, lying on the floor with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Williams was transported to Christ Hospital by Burbank Paramedics but was pronounced dead upon arrival. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
On Friday, the Cook County Medical Examiner ruled the incident as a murder-suicide. The Burbank Police Department’s Investigations Division is still investigating the case, and updates will be provided as soon as possible.
Authorities have stated that this was an isolated incident and the public is not in danger. The community is mourning the loss of Hoddenbach, who was a dedicated employee at the Chicago Shrimp House. Hoddenbach’s family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.
