KANKAKEE – A former assistant warden at Stateville Correctional Center was arrested last Wednesday on five alleged criminal sex felony charges.

According to Illinois State Police, 45-year-old Edward Jacobs was taken into custody at his home in the 2200 block of West Grace Street in Kankakee early Wednesday afternoon.  Two warrants carrying a bond of $100,000 each were issued for Jacobs, who was booked into Will County Jail on multiple charges of criminal sexual abuse allegedly committed during his time at Statesville against another member of the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC)

An investigation into the incident has been ongoing since April 2021.  A spokesperson with IDOC reported Jacob was fired from his post in early May of that year.

Two of the reported incidents allegedly occurred in late August 2020 and three others in April 2021.

Jacobs was released shortly after his arrest Wednesday after posting bail.
