Grundy County, IL – Beginning Monday, drivers traversing Interstate 80 in Grundy County will encounter significant traffic delays.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has declared that I-80 will be limited to one lane in both directions between the Route 47 and Seneca interchanges. Initiated due to extensive temperature-induced damage, this essential patching and resurfacing work is scheduled to last until May.
Set to start on February 19th, the project will involve daily lane closures over the 10-week period. Motorists should prepare for delays, allocate extra time for travel, and consider alternative routes like Routes 6 and 52. For continuous updates and traffic information, travelers are encouraged to follow @IDOTDistrict3 on Twitter and check GettingAroundIllinois.com.
