Kankakee, IL – The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the closure of southbound Interstate 57 through Kankakee for three consecutive nights starting from Tuesday, March 28.
This closure is due to the need for shoulder repairs and will take place overnight, subject to favorable weather conditions. The affected stretch of road is between the U.S. 45/52 interchange (exit 308) and the Illinois 50 interchange (exit 315).
To facilitate repairs, I-57 will be closed at 8 p.m. each night and will reopen by 6 a.m. the following morning. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use the posted detour via Illinois 50 and U.S. 45 / 52. Delays are expected, and drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to be prepared for slow and stopped traffic.
