BOLINGBROOK, Ill. – In a tragic incident that unfolded on Saturday, Simeon S. Hendrickson, 61, and his wife Laurie J. Hendrickson, 60, lost their lives following a gun incident at their residence on the 700 block of Dalton Lane.
The preliminary investigation reveals that Simeon Hendrickson accidentally discharged his handgun while working on it, causing a round to strike his wife.
“(Simeon) was working on one of his handguns in his residence, when it accidentally discharged and the round struck his wife, Laurie J. Hendrickson, 60, of Bolingbrook. Simeon Hendrickson then took his own life with the handgun and was pronounced dead at the scene.” Police said in an update Sunday.
Laurie Hendrickson was rushed to an area hospital but sadly succumbed to her injuries.
The Bolingbrook Police originally responded to the distress call Saturday at approximately 5:45 pm. Initially reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound while cleaning a gun, it became apparent during transit that two shots were fired and another individual may have been injured.
