COLONA, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) successfully apprehended Odalis N. Cruz, a 26-year-old from Green Bay, WI, and Sergio O. Nunez, a 40-year-old from Indianapolis, IN after the pair were detained in connection with allegedly trafficking over 400 pounds of illegal drugs.
According to police reports the operation unfolded on Tuesday evening when a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck was intercepted on Interstate 80 in Henry County. The ISP trooper’s suspicions were aroused by several signs of illicit activity. The situation escalated with the arrival of an ISP canine unit, which detected the presence of narcotics. This led to a comprehensive search, revealing a large haul of cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms, and cannabis concentrates, totaling approximately 397 pounds.
Following the discovery, Cruz and Nunez were taken into custody and are currently held at the Henry County Jail, with bail denied. The charges, including Cannabis and Controlled Substance Trafficking, have been validated by the Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
