South Bend, Indiana – A dramatic collision on Ironwood Road has left a 35-year-old Indiana motorcyclist in critical condition.

The incident unfolded around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, along the stretch of Ironwood Road connecting Edison Road and State Road 23.

The alarming accident transpired as a 21-year-old resident of Wilmette, Illinois, was traveling southbound on Ironwood Road. Simultaneously, the 35-year-old local motorcyclist was also headed south on the same stretch, resulting in a devastating collision.

The motorcyclist bore the brunt of the impact, suffering critical injuries that necessitated immediate hospitalization. The driver of the passenger vehicle was unscathed and cooperating with authorities.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team is currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the precise sequence of events leading up to the collision.
